About this Event
We’re stepping inside the record for an intimate archival afternoon — a chance to sit with, listen to, and feel the presence of Black women who came before us.
Doors open at 1:00 PM
1:30 – 3:00 PM |
Twenty-five participants will engage directly with letters, manuscripts, photographs, maps, and ephemera by and about Black women, selected by lead archivist Lisa Moore.
Materials may include correspondence from Zora Neale Hurston and Fannie Lou Hamer, selections from the Elizabeth Catlett Papers, maps by Louise E. Jefferson, and a travel journal by Mary McLeod Bethune.
After brief grounding remarks from the Amistad team, we’ll sit with the materials — unrushed and present — in the company of Black women’s paper trails and interior lives.
Optional happy hour to follow at The Chloe.
Free. Limited to 25 guests. Registration required. Donations support preservation efforts. ✨
