About this Event
OFFERING DESCRIPTION
As Black educators committed to providing quality educational experiences for young people, it’s essential to prioritize our own well-being amidst the demands of our fast-paced work. While traditional education often centers cognitive learning and overlooks the body, research highlights that knowledge is both intellectual and embodied. Engaging in embodiment practices helps educators reimagine how learning happens, focusing on relationships, emotions, and holistic health.
BTP Virtual MeetUp: My Body Wants to Be Listened To is a free 90-minute workshop that invites Black educators to reconnect with their bodies through writing and reflection. Together, we’ll foster vulnerability and collective support to better understand and respond to the messages our bodies send us about what Black teachers need to thrive.
Participants Will:
- Explore how nurturing the body promotes healing and overall well-being.
- Practice body awareness meditation and breathing techniques.
- Reflect alongside others on their body-listening practices and identify areas needing care and attention.
- Develop strategies for better self-care and nurturing.
- Examine how tuning into the body can impact their roles as educators and community members.
Meet Your Host:

CEO of Dee's Passion Filled Experience and BTP Advisory Board Member, Dee is committed to providing body and soul care for women to write and work out together! Her passion-filled spaces are filled with the time, energy, and attention (T.E.A.) that each of her participants needs to become strategically focused on their wellness journey! Dee has been writing in Writer's Notebooks since her first year of teaching in 2004. She now has a collection of 62 notebooks, and she is still writing. She started her fitness journey with Shape Up N.Y.C. when she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. After completing her training, the fitness coach, "TriniGirl," was born. In 2019, Dee turned her passion for writing and working out into Dee's Passion Filled Experience, L.L.C., hoping to share her Time, Energy & Attention (T.E.A.) with other women while providing soul care for their wellness journeys.
