Join us for a Black community workshop for Black History Month and World Mental Health Day where we share our stories of everyday survival.
About this Event

We're kicking off Black History Month with a lunchtime workshop exclusively for the Black community exploring our everyday stories of survival, including the stories of our friends, families and our ancestors. Storytelling has been an ancient practice across Africa and the Caribbean that has been central to our physical and mental wellbeing, so we will be unapologetically honouring our lived experience and the wisdom that has come from it.

We our session is 90 minutes long and we will spend time sharing our ideas in pairs as well as in the bigger group. There is no pressure to share if you don't want to and you're welcome to sit and listen to others if that's where you're at. After the workshop, we will have lunch together and mark World Mental Health Day by exploring how to end the stigma surrounding mental health in Black communities and sharing our ideas about what mental wellness looks like for us.

If you have any accessibility needs please contact us ahead of the event by emailing [email protected] and we will be happy to assist.

A place where you will enjoy a delectable lunch, beverages, desserts, as well as areas for socializing, unwinding, and education. We want this community restaurant to be a place where everyone can improve their mental and physical health. It is for everyone, including locals, tourists, employees, volunteers, and our clients who might feel alone due to homelessness, age-related issues, mental health concerns, memory issues, or being long-term unemployed.
