About this Event

The Free Black Women's Library is a literary hub, social site, Black Feminist archive, and community care space that features over 5000 books by Black women and Black non-binary folks, as well as a wide range of free public programs, special events, and creative workshops, a free store, a period pantry, a backyard garden, a virtual reading club, and weekly book swap.
Each month we curate and create programs that explore specific themes and topics.
This month we celebrate Poetry Month with a series of free workshops and film screenings exploring Poetry and Prose.

Join us for a workshop on writing Poetry and Prose using artworks from the Harlem Renaissance exhibit located within the Metropolitan Museum as inspiration.

We have 40 free museum passes to gift to folks who sign up for this workshop so that you can visit it beforehand. We will also share images from the exhibit on the day of the session.

This workshop will be led by OlaRonke Akinmowo, creator and director of The Free Black Women's Library who is currently an artist in residence at The Metropolitan Museum.
