"For They Endured..." Documentary Screening, Musical Performance, and Community Conversation



Join us on Saturday February 1st, 2:00 PM at the South Dallas Cultural Center for an afternoon of film, music, and community dialogue. Don't miss out on this special event to kick off Black History Month. Secure your tickets today!


Film Screening: Her historical documentary, "For They Endured," explores the groundbreaking contributions of Black women in music therapy before, during, and after the civil rights movement, preserving the stories of an underrepresented group of trailblazers who broke barriers and paved the way. The film features a cross-section of pioneers, including Dr. Deforia Lane, Frances Goldberg, Nelly Dotie, and June Pulliam.


Community Conversation: An arts and culture event with a community focus, moderator Errika Flood- Moultrie, Founder & CEO of Connections Multiplied Too, will facilitate a post-screening dialogue with the audience discussing pertinent themes from the film, and visioning for our collective future.


Musical Performance: The afternoon will also feature a performance by Kamica King including a musical culmination inspired by the live community conversation.



About The Filmmaker & Artist:

Kamica King is an acclaimed multidisciplinary artist, U.S. Cultural Ambassador, and a leader in arts-based healing. A National Endowment for the Arts subgrantee, she combines her skills as a storyteller, musician, and music therapist to elevate untold stories and promote social-emotional wellness. Her work has garnered international recognition from Zambia to Colombia.


About the Moderator:

Errika Flood Moultrie is the founder of Connections Multiplied, which works to connect people and nonprofit organizations to the resources they need to be successful. An experienced consultant and coach with extensive knowledge in nonprofit management, program and fund development, capacity building and leadership development, she holds a master’s degree in organizational management from Dallas Baptist University. Having held key leadership positions in top national, local and regional agencies of the nonprofit sector. She does the work to fulfill her passion for empowering nonprofit leaders to pursue personal purpose while leading with visionary excellence. With more than 30 years of related experience in coaching, leading, innovating and designing programs for the nonprofit sector, Errika intimately understands the challenges and opportunities in this space. Having designed the innovative Black Women in Nonprofit Leadership cohort in 2019, Errika has led dozens of Black women to find their voice, to achieve promotions and pay increases, and to use their power to change their communities.
