FashionABLE: The Making of an All-Ability Fashion Show, a film by Randal Iverson, will be premiering as the feature movie at the Black Hills Film Festival on Friday, September 27, at 3:30 PM in the theater at the Journey Museum located in downtown Rapid City. Tickets are $10 through the Black Hills Film Festival website.
FashionABLE is a documentary that follows 26 designers with various intellectual and physical disabilities that are partnered one-on-one with community volunteers to bring their one-of-a-kind fashion design to life. The film offers a behind the scenes look at the month-long journey, and the relationships developed
along the way, culminating in a sold-out fashion show at Jolly Lane Greenhouse. FashionABLE: All-Ability Threads, it is a biennial event, produced by Flutter Productions, that has become a fan favorite. This intimate glimpse into the lives of several of the designers and the challenges they rise to, illustrates the ability that the arts have to change perceptions, build community, and celebrate the human spirit.
