Join us for a beautiful full-day walk exploring the best of Richmond riverside and Richmond Park, combining scenic river paths, woodland trails, and some of London’s most iconic viewpoints.
We'll take a river walk to Petersham Nurseries onto Petersham Gate, then Elm Tree walk to Pembroke Lodge, on to King Henry's mound, for view of S Paul's Catherdral. Then a long walk to and through Isabella Plantation to Broomfield Hill car park. We'll walk on to Pen Ponds and end up at Richmond Gate. There'll then be an elevated river walk to return to the station. We'll be walking for about 5.5 hours.
Terrain: Expect some inclines, mixture of woodland and pavedpaths, which may be slippery and muddy in wet weather, so hiking boots with good ankle support and weather appropriate clothing are recommended.
What to bring: Lunch, snacks and water. There are shops/cafes available at the meeting point (please factor in additional time for this ahead of the meeting time should you wish to purchase any food/drink).
Lunch stop: Midway through the walk. Some tables available and a coffee shop that sells snacks and hot drinks.
Facilities: Toilets are available at various points throughout the walk.
Transport: This is a circular walk. The start and end point has good links to trainlines, the underground and local buses.
This event will be led by a BGH trained walk leader. Please note that the leader does not hold a Mountain Leader qualification, and participation is therefore at your own discretion and risk.
