About this Event
Black Girl Magic Career Exploration Fair
The purpose is to give girls hope for a bright future because representation matters. It is easier for us to imagine ourselves being something if we are exposed to someone who looks like us already doing it. If that person who looks like us can share their experience on how to get there, it will empower us to start making steps in the right direction.
How it works
Think speed-dating but for careers. Each student will have 5 minutes with you to learn about your career path and you as a person. They will come to you with questions to ask. They can ask the questions on the list or questions they come up with on their own. When the buzzer sounds they will switch to another table. We are hoping each student gets to visit each table. If students are especially interested in a particular career we can connect them with a mentor in that field who will have a more in depth conversation or even a potential follow up meeting or phone call.
Who can attend
- Black girls age 5-17
- Parents and Guardians of those girls
- Professionals who wish to share their careers
