Black Children Book Week

Malik Books is hosting the 3rd annual Black Children’s Book Week. Event Director and Author CJ Charles head up an All-Star lineup of children authors. Black Children's Book Week is a powerful celebration dedicated to uplifting Black voices in children’s literature and inspiring a lifelong love of reading among young readers. This special event brings together talented Black children’s authors, illustrators, educators, and families for a day of storytelling, book talks, and interactive activities designed to reflect, empower, and educate.

Through engaging readings, author meet-and-greets, and community-centered programming, the event highlights the importance of representation in books and the impact it has on shaping identity, confidence, and imagination in children. Attendees will discover diverse stories that celebrate culture, history, and everyday experiences—ensuring every child can see themselves as the hero of their own story.

Black Children’s Book Week is more than an event—it’s a movement to nurture young minds, support Black authors, and strengthen community connections through the power of books.
