45th Anniversary Screening! “Just one of the most solidly entertaining and trashy Bruce Lee ripoffs around.” -AGFA
Spanish scientists develop a drug that can cause mass-sterility but uh oh, it’s fallen into the hands of terrorists! It’s ok though because a kung fu master (BRUCE LE) and a moustachioed lady’s man (RICHARD HARRISON)—who are of course CIA agents—track the stolen formula from Spain to Hong Kong, battling Neo-Nazi’s and a Vietnamese spy ring along the way.
If you ever wondered why the film’s director and star BRUCE LE—who’s real name is HUANG KIN-LUNG—has a cameo in the beloved Spanish slasher PIECES (1982), it’s most definitely because producer DICK RANDALL was already busy trying to cash in on the demand for more Bruce Lee-type films in the mid to late 70s. Featuring topless tennis, kung fu-bullfighting, seductive-super-spy-action, and a cast of baddies like HWANG JANG LEE (DRUNKEN MASTER) and BOLO YEUNG (ENTER THE DRAGON), CHALLENGE OF THE TIGER rises above the sea of middling ‘Brucesploitation’ films that tastelessly emerged following the tragic death of the real Bruce Lee in 1973.
