About this Event
Bittersweet delves into the juxtaposition of cuteness and darkness within J-Fashion and Kawaii Culture, exploring how cuteness serves as both a form of healing and a vehicle for escapism. Many within the J-Fashion community are considered misfits or face mental health struggles, with substyles such as Jirai Kei, Yami Kawaii, and Gurokawa embodying this disparity whilst being cute. Drawing inspiration from the substyles, Bittersweet, highlights gothic, punk, and other "dark" aesthetics alongside the traditional whimsical cute pink prints and pallets.
we brought together over 30 artists from the community to join us and display their works which are inspired by Bitter Sweet. from paintings and fashion to video and sculpture, join us at the next Harajuku Haven to see for yourself!
