What You’ll Do
In Italian culture, aperitivo is a cherished early-evening ritual. Derived from the Latin aperire, meaning “to open,” aperitivo is meant to open the appetite before dinner through light bites, refreshing cocktails, and unhurried conversation. More than just food and drink, it is a daily pause that bridges the day and the evening, centered on connection, community, and la dolce vita. This class is inspired by that tradition and designed as a relaxed, social experience that unfolds just like an Italian evening. The evening begins with bruschetta, where guests will watch a demonstration on slicing and baking crustini and preparing a classic tomato bruschetta. Guests will then assemble their own bruschetta using a variety of seasonal toppings and Italian ingredients, creating custom flavor combinations.
Next, guests will enjoy a cocktail tasting and demonstration rooted in Italy’s aperitivo culture. Our team will share the history behind classic aperitivo cocktails, including the Aperol Spritz, known for its bright, bittersweet profile, as well as the story and inspiration behind Commellini Estate’s signature Bacio Di Limone (Recently featured in the Spokane Drinks Book). The evening concludes with Stuffed Mushrooms one of Italy’s most beloved small bites. The class wraps up with enjoying the bites you’ve experienced together in the warm, historic setting of Commellini Estate.
