Biska Jatra is a vibrant and culturally significant festival celebrated in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal, during the Nepali New Year (mid-April). This ancient festival, unique to the Newah community, lasts for several days and is famous for its chariot processions, traditional rituals, and intense Sindoor Jatra (Vermilion Festival).This year we bring this vibrant cultural event and rich traditions of Nepal to the Pacific Northwest. This event features:
- Cultural program
- An exhilarating Khat Jatra (chariot procession) accompanied by the enchanting rhythms of Dhimay baja
- A sumptuous Newah feast (Newah Bhoye) served in a traditional setting
This is a unique opportunity to experience and honor the living heritage of Nepal. Beyond the festivities, this event is a powerful way to connect with the community, build meaningful relationships, and support cultural preservation.
