There are no prerequisites for this program. People of all backgrounds are very welcome.
Shambhala Training programs help us to develop and nurture meditation practice. The Birth of the Warrior introduces a precise meditation technique of shamatha or “calm abiding meditation”, which helps us to see the cocoon of habitual patterns that we have created over time.
Deepening our meditation practice allows us to observe how we personally create a cocoon of habits to mask vulnerability and fear, habits that trap us and prevent us from experiencing the full potential of our lives. Through meditation, we begin to appreciate that there is no fundamental obstacle to experiencing our basic goodness.
In the Shambhala traditions of India and Tibet, cultivating the courage and gentleness to be awake to our basic goodness and our hang-ups leads to the birth of warriorship - a brave person who can be genuine and available to others.
This program presents Birth of the Warrior over three Friday mornings from 9:00 am to noon EST in a hybrid format. You may attend in-person or online via Zoom.
This program includes:
Instruction in silent sitting and walking meditation
Lively and helpful talks and small group discussions
