Welcome to the Birmingham Portrait Class at 1000 Trades in Jewellery Quarter Birmingham! Join us on TUESDAY MARCH 31st, 2026 at 6:00 PM for a fun and interactive session where you can learn how to capture the essence of a person through art. No experience is necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! Event ends at 9pm.
Held upstairs at 1000 trades pub in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. Drinks and food can be purchased at the bar which is encouraged.
This is not a strict drawing class with timed sessions and is also not a typical life drawing class. This is a class 3 hour that you may drop in and out from if you wish. It's lighthearted and a chance to meet new friends and artists. Saying that though I am available for advice, feedback and printouts of traditional portrait drawing techniques will be provided.
A clothed model will be posed in one comfortable position over the 3 hours allowing you to create a series of studies or one big final piece if you wish. Be creative, focus on face structure and finding a style. Learn about the person posing and create a story.
Materials will be provided including: paper (upto A3), markers, pencils, charcoal, paints and oil paints. Some canvases may be provided on a first come first serve basis. If creating larger pieces then please bring your own boards/easels. Painting is encouraged.
