Birdwatch Bike Tour: Baltic to Kittiwake Tower Local Nature Reserve

Part of Spring Into Action (3-19 April 2026), two weeks of free, nature-themed events and opportunities to be active, creative and celebrate the return of Baltic's beloved wild residents and Spring in all its glory.
A 6-mile ride east along the Gateshead riverside to the Kittiwake Tower Local Nature Reserve, where you'll get up close to nesting kittiwakes before continuing along cycle paths in search of more seabirds and wildlife. The ride will be led by the cycling leaders from North East Young Dads & Lads and wildlife photographer and rewilding expert Cain Scrimgeour from Wild Intrigue joins us to help spot what's out there.
Open to anyone comfortable riding 6 miles in a supportive group.
Dress appropriately for the ride and bring spare layers for a range of weather conditions.
Please book one ticket per person joining the bike tour.

We at North East Young Dads and Lads, want to keep everyone safe on our bike rides. Every participant must wear a helmet on our rides and for our longer rides have experience of riding a bike various types of terrain.
We have the right to stop cyclists who pose dangers to pedestrians, road users or other members of the cycling group.
Before each ride our bike leaders will help make sure your bike is ready to ride and assist with any punctures along the way. Please ensure you have your own equipment (such as inner tubes etc), we can provide some if we have the right equipment but if we don’t there might not be much, we can do.
All rides are subject to cancelation due to adviser weather conditions; we will contact you if this is the case.
