It's Spring and our migratory feathered friends have returned to the Black Run Preserve to build their nests and raise their young. Hear about our avian residents as well as our Nest Watch Program. We'll learn how to identify them using the Merlin app (download it from the Apple or Google Play Store) as we hike the trails (less than two miles) . Bird photographers are welcome. Our bird blind is perfect for practicing technique. Bring binoculars and/or cameras and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Insect repellent is recommended, as the birds are not the only ones back for the summer.
Afterward, at noon, those who are interested can flock to Zed's Beer (9 N Maple Ave, Marlton) where "birds of a feather" can enjoy a brew and conversation. Join us for a glass of Black Run Maple on Tap, a very limited edition beer produced from syrup drawn from the Black Run Preserve’s red maple trees – available only to registered attendees. Proceeds of each pour will be donated to FBRP to support more programs like our popular Maple Tapping Event. A microphone will be open for announcements, music and/or poetry about Black Run. Show off your talent or just sit back and enjoy the show. Light maple-inspired snacks will be provided.
The birding portion of this event is appropriate for children. The "brew" gathering is adult only. Please let us know which you'll be attending when you register.
Meet at the Kettle Run Road West trailhead at 9:00 am.
Please register by following the tickets link. An accurate head count helps us better prepare for an enjoyable event.
