BIPOC QUEER COMEDY LINEUP AT TIPSY BEAR BERLIN BIPOC Queer Comedy Lineup At The Queer Heart Of Berlin
About this Event

After the successful premier night on April 24, Anshita Koul Comedy brings to you another edition of the brand new comedy night at the Queer heart of Berlin Tipsy Bear, where some of Berlin's finest, international and hidden BIPOC and Queer gems will take the stage to make you laugh. The event is open to everyone, only the lineup is BIPOC Queer, so bring your lovers, queers and allies.

This comedy night is an intersectional attempt by a Queer POC producer herself to pass the mic & expand the vibrant, diverse international comedy scene in Berlin even further and create a safe, inclusive, accessible and a fun stage for BIPOC and/or Queer artists with different comedy styles. It is also a space to experiment and play with different genres of comedy like - musical comedy, improv comedy, storytelling comedy, sketch comedy, satire and standup comedy to name a few.

As BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color) and Queer artists, we often use humour to cope with the inequality and inequity in this world, and we are excellent at it but we don't want to be paid in 'good vibes' or 'thoughts & prayers' anymore simple because grocery stores don't work on that business model yet.

Lineup featuring -

Kevin and Jeremie

Making their debut in musical comedy, Kevin and Jeremie are here to sing their stories and share some tunes. They are members of a Berlin-based band called Amphibia. One is Queer and the other is an aspiring Queen.

Prithvi

I am Prithvi which literally translates to 'the Earth' in English. I am from a small coastal city in India, which you would have never heard about so lets just say I am from Mumbai. I am a full-time marketeer and a part-time aspiring stand-up comic. I like my humor like my face and coffee, dark. I am also colorblind, which means I hold the Guinness world record for solving the Rubik's cube the fastest.

HEADLINER - Liliana Velásquez Comedic Actress contemporary dancer with a passion for tango.

Liliana Velasquez Montoya aka L'aDios is a performer (dancer, comedian, sex worker, writer) currently based in the city of Berlin. She was born a creative fiery spirit, into a traditional Colombian family. The first of 5 children, she dreamed of leaving her wonderful, beautiful caring & shamefully catholic home, to explore and be on her own (relatively) wild self discovery. In her twenties she moved to NYC to pursue fashion, but life is not always what we plan. Through the adventurous streets, galleries, museums, clubs, and excitement of NYC, she found that her creativity was being fuelled through dance, theater, painting, modelling and finding her voice in stand up comedy. Facing the challenges of regular everyday life, the artist in the grind. Today she is doing it all again and yet it is never the same. Currently based in Berlin, you can find her regularly performing and producing shows in the city.

The event is hosted and produced by internationally touring independent standup comedian Anshita Koul from India. Anshita made her debut in the standup world from the Indian reality TV show Queens of Comedy 2017, which was also available on Netflix but only for ~2 years for which she is eternally grateful because no comedian wants their first time on stage to be aired on Netflix. They recently made it to the ‘One to Watch’ list at Funny Women Stage Awards 2021 and is also a finalist at Funny Women Stage Awards 2022 in the UK.

She is the founder of Comedy Bazaar Berlin, a monthly comedy & storytelling night in Berlin and is the co-founder of Clit Comedy Club and one of the founders and organisers of Festrogen, the first ever female & queer centric comedy festival in Luxembourg. She is currently on tour with her solo debut comedy hour Little Too Much and her double bill show The Clitoris Act with comedian Mari Volar.

36, Indian, Queer, Married, does not want a child and is a standup comedian by profession– Anshita is a poster child for everything Patriarchy hates, but don’t worry kids, she hates it back way more.

You can read more about her at www.anshitakoul.com (currently under re-construction) but Instagram is where she can be really found.

The tickets are only 10 Euro and are available at the door. The bar/door opens at 6 pm and the show starts at 8 pm. The space gets full quickly so If you make a reservation, please claim it by 7.15 pm latest, after that we allow walk-ins. Since the ticket price is kept so less in order to make it affordable for as many people with different spending limits, we do happily accept and encourage our audience members to give tips at the end of the show if they can afford to pay more for a ticket and had a good time.
