About this Event
Biophilia is the love of life.
Biophilia is a natural affinity for living systems, a principle, a name for an enduring, profound, kinship with living organisms, a book, published in 1984, by E.O Wilson, a studio album by Björk, released in 2011, a hypothesis, a celebration of abundance and reciprocity, and now, in the context of LA Climate Week 2026, an evening of presentations and discussion that will focus on the extraordinary and exceptional work of four California based start-ups: Ecotune, Nereid Biomaterials, the Centre for Applied Ecological Remediation, CAER, and GRoW Oyster Reefs.
Four women: Ella Csuka, Alyson Santoro, Danielle Stevenson and Evelyn Tickle.
Four founders.
One platform: nature-inspired innovation.
The discussion will be led by Maëlys Renaud, Biomimicry Institute Innovation team member, Program Manager for the Ray of Hope Accelerator supporting and funding nature-inspired startups, chemist, open-innovation enthusiast, former Science Diplomat, dancer and founder of Pole Dance for the Planet, with David Turnbull, design critic, writer and educator, COO, GRoW Oyster Reefs, and Senior Consultant at Wet Matter, Los Angeles.
This event is sponsored by GRoW Oyster Reefs LLC, and the Biomimicry Institute, hosted by RIVIAN.
