About this Event
The Biomaterials Club: Orange Biotextile Gathering is a space where we democratise knowledge about biomaterials, share experiences, and build a community around sustainable making. This session focuses on a deep dive into one specific material: an orange biotextile.
We invite you to experience this material through your senses, to touch it, smell it, and see how its texture and color behave. This is a space to talk about its lifecycle, how it was made, and how we can use "Kitchen Chemistry" to create sustainable alternatives to traditional fabrics.
What to Bring:
- Anything you want to share: Feel free to bring your own experiments, research, or any creative project you are currently working on.
- Curiosity: We encourage everyone to ask questions and explore the material without judgment.
- A Notebook: To capture any sensory observations or "light bulb" moments.
Our Home: Islington Mill Art Academy (IMAA) where the club is hosted, is a free, peer-led art school and creative learning community. IMAA is a safe heaven for creatives, queers, and misfits who believe in the power of taking things into our own hands.
How to Find Us The session takes place in the IMAA Main Room in New Islington Mill.
