27th February - FREE ENTRYAlena Bulatetskaya is a classical accordionist from Russia who combines her passion of solo, chamber and orchestra performing.
Encouraged by her family of amateur musicians, Alena, who was born in 1996, began playing music at the age of six. After learning with Oxana Klevleeva at Sviridov Music School and Lyceum, she continued her accordion studies at the Rostov State Conservatory under professor Liudmila Varavina. Alena discovered a passion for orchestral projects while working as a soloist and artist with the exceptional Russian Folk Orchestra "Don," guided by Krikor Khurdaian. She frequently plays with her own orchestra at the State Philharmonic in Rostov-on-Don.
Thanks to the Erasmus+ Exchange Program, Glasgow and Rostov-on-Don's twin cities connections, and the full scholarship provided by ABRSM, Alena was able to join in the postgraduate program at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2018 and study with Professor Djordje Gajic. At this time, she became a part of Yehudi Menuhin's prestigious Live Music Now Scotland performance scheme, which seeks to bring music to the most disadvantaged groups in society. Alena performs regularly, delivering live music to care homes, hospitals and additional support needs schools across the UK. Among her recent performances are also solo recitals in well-known venues such as St. Giles Cathedral and Usher Hall, organised by Live Music Now Scotland.
