Welcome to the ’s Youth Poetry Slam, hosted by TBA!
Come out on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00am. 14 youth poets will compete in a two round poetry slam. Winner gets the opprotunity to perform a poem in the showcase that same day at the Bigfoot Poetry Festival's Finals Stage event (happening at 7:00pm at the United Church of Christ, the winner and parent(s) will be given free entry into Finals). Plus they will receive a $50 gift card to Powell's Books.
Everyone is welcome to attend this poetry slam as it is a FREE EVENT.
Poets must be 18 or younger to take part. Poets must have 2 poems (they do not need to be memorized), written by the performing poet, and both poems should be 3 minutes or less. All normal poetry slam rules apply to this show. The slam's first round will contain 14 poets, and the second round we will cut to 7 poets.
To sign up to be in the poetry slam, please fill out this form. We will only take sign ups at the actual event if we have less than 14 sign ups in advance:
If we receive more than 14 sign ups, there will be a randomized draw to determine the participants in this event (as well as the calibration poet). Poets will be emailed at the beginning of June with more information.
This event takes place on the mezzanine on the second floor of Portland Center Stage (128 NW 11th Ave). This venue is ADA accessible. There is an elevator if needed.
