About this Event
A compass always points north, but how do you use it to figure out where to go? If you’ve always wanted to learn how to use a compass to get from one place to another, this workshop is for you!
A simple progression of skills will teach you how to use a compass to find a bearing (direction) and travel towards that bearing.
We'll add to the fun by finishing with a hunt through the fields, forests, and trails of the Glade Run property, using your new compass skills to follow clues to find Bigfoot!
This activity is ideal for adults, teens, and kids 8 and older, who can be on their feet for about an hour and a half and walk about a mile over that time, sometimes on uneven or hilly terrain. Participants will work in pairs to follow the clues to bigfoot after the instruction time. (Groups of 3 or 4 can also work together.)
No map and compass experience or “sense of direction” are necessary, but patience, attention to detail, and basic ease with numbers and markings are helpful. Compasses to borrow for the day will be provided.
A minimum of 7 registrations by May 30th is required in order for this event to be held.
Once the minimum registration number has been met, registrations may be made until the day before the event.
Maximum number of participants is 20.
