A judgement-free exchange of ideas on theology, philosophy, ethics, and the mess of life lead by a local pastor and theologian.
About this Event

WHAT: Big Table Big Questions

WHEN: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 4-6 PM

HOW MUCH: FREE

We need to get back to talking with each other in person. Simple as that.

So, we're going to create space for having guided talks about big things.

This will be a judgement-free exchange of ideas at the intersection of theology, philosophy, ethics, and the mess of life.

This isn't a debate. This isn't the space to point fingers or take anyone’s dignity. This isn't the space for proselytizing.

The hope is that we can help each other better navigate this world through sharing theory and practice rooted in compassion.

But what do we even talk about? Who starts? What if we disagree?

Never fear. Charlotte Elia will be here.

Who is Charlotte Elia? First of all, she was the very first customer at Burgundie's and she' still a regular. She's a resident of Petersburg and:

Charlotte is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University and Union Presbyterian Seminary. An elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Charlotte has served congregations as a pastor, educator, and music director. She currently works as Director of Christian Formation at Chester Presbyterian Church and as a host of The Heavenly Banquet, a progressive online ministry for those without local access to affirming, justice-centered Christian communities. After earning a certificate in church music from VWU’s Center for Sacred Music, Charlotte remained as assistant director of the program organizing the annual summer conference, hymn festivals, workshops, and webinars. During her studies at Union, Charlotte helped found and later led the Society for Patristic and Medieval Studies. As a scholar of the earliest centuries of Christianity with an additional specialty in the lives and works of Medieval female mystics, she is a frequent presenter at academic conferences and church workshops. Charlotte is the co-author with Rebecca Weaver of Wisdom from the Early Church, and she has recently published Coloring in Prayer: 40 Conversations with God.

Point is: we'll be in good hands.

Come join the community and the conversation.
