About this Event
Big Pink Music is proud to present our next in-the-round show of 2026 with a reunion of the legendary local acoustic group "Sea Aira" on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Hampton’s Victorian Station, the region’s only member-supported listening room. The band will take center stage -- literally -- for the next signature in-the-round. The format, made famous by Nashville's Bluebird Cafe and featured on the TV show, "Nashville," puts the artists in a circle ringed by the audience. It's an intimate, shared performance. Victorian Station, the grand building in Phoebus, is the perfect setting.
Sea Aira is Brent Gable, guitar and vocals, David Mills, electric bass, Mike Munden mandolin, banjo, pedal steel and Mary Lou Osterhous, guitar and vocals. They met by chance in 1991 at a duo gig Mike and Brent had at a local restaurant in Virginia Beach. During a break Dave and Mary Lou shared that they were also musicians and had some original music they had been working on. Hearing this Mike and Brent invited them to play during a break. This happened a few times and Brent and Mike started joining in with them. Before long the breaks were longer than the sets and… Voila! A band was born.
They recorded a six song cassette to use in a promo pack and after being together only three weeks, submitted it to the ‘Marlboro Music Talent Round Up’ where they were selected to participate in the competition. This was a regional competition where 10 bands competed over five nights. Each night one band was picked to compete in the final round. Sea Aira was one of the bands selected. They then took 2nd in the finals performing all original songs and taking home a $3000 prize!
Sea Aira continued to play locally and regionally throughout the 1990’s and opened for acts such as David Wilcox, Iris DeMent, and America. They also recorded a 10 song CD titled ‘Waiting For A Sign’ that received local and national air play.
This band was truly a meeting of music and heart. While Brent and Mary Lou share song writing credits, the creativity, musicianship and willingness of Dave and Mike to compose parts for their songs shaped the distinctive sound of SeaAira’s music in an unmistakable way. Brent, Mary Lou, Dave, and Michael are all thrilled to bring the band together again for a special reunion show at The Big Pink!
