One of the most legendary locomotives in history is embarking on a 2026 coast-to-coast tour to celebrate America's 250th anniversary — and we are delighted to share that Tioga County, NY is on the schedule!
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭:
Big Boy will travel through the county with a pass through Waverly, NY, and then make a stop in Owego, NY for a 15–30 minute "Whistle Stop" at The Turn, a wonderful restaurant housed in the historic Erie Railroad Depot.
The Village of Owego is anticipating large crowds, so we will be your go-to source for everything you need to know. In the days ahead, we will be posting details on how to navigate the area around the "Whistle Stop" location, where to catch the train in motion along the Tioga County leg of the tour, places to stay, and all the wonderful things happening in Owego and around the county to celebrate this historic moment.
