Hello Spring and you know what that means! Time for Bicycle Safety Day 2026! Join us on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TSC Garage on Willipie Street in Wapak (across from the Wapak Fire Department) for a fun filled day. All children 18 and under will receive a FREE fitted helmet and make sure to bring your bicycle for a FREE inspection with minor adjustments made on site, plus learn the rules of the road by completing the bicycle rodeo course manned by our very own Wapak Police and Fire Departments. There will also be giveaways, special guests, raffles, and snacks!
This day is very special to our family and my Mom pours her heart into making this day successful. My brother passed away on August 3, 1983 from injuries sustained in a bicycle/car accident, at the age of 9. Gone from our lives so suddenly and not a day goes by that we don't miss his infectious smile. Bicycle Safety Day is a day meant to educate our youth on the importance of safety and the proper rules when riding so it stays a safe, fun, enjoyable activity. Even if only one life is saved from this event, then it is more than worth it. We never want a family to endure the pain of losing a loved one all too soon.
Bicycle Safety Day would not be possible without amazing community support from our Wapak Police and Fire Departments, Auglaize County Sheriff Department (DARE), Wapak Telephone Service Company, and numerous businesses and organizations throughout our city.
