About this Event
Join the Bisexual Resource Center and IMPACT Boston for a trauma-informed self-defense workshop designed to help participants build confidence, practice boundary-setting, and develop practical tools for navigating unsafe or intimidating situations.
This workshop will combine verbal and physical self-defense skills in a supportive, inclusive environment centered on empowerment rather than fear. Participants will learn strategies for assertive communication, de-escalation, recognizing unsafe dynamics, and responding effectively under stress. No prior experience or fitness level is required.
IMPACT Boston has been teaching empowerment self-defense and violence prevention for decades, with programs specifically designed for LGBTQ+ communities, survivors of trauma, and people of all body types and abilities. Their approach emphasizes realistic scenarios, mutual support, and practical skills that can be used in everyday life. We promise that everything will be done in the safest way possible.
This workshop is open to bi+ (bi, pan, omni, queer) folks of all ages and genders. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your personal safety skills, practice setting boundaries, or spend time in community, we hope you’ll join the BRC, Alicia Ortiz, and Rene Rives.
The best part is that we are offering community safety packs to all participants!
FREE PARKING! All y’all going home after work need to park it, have a quick bite, then come to the self-defense course.
(Bailey’s been informed that we won’t flip anybody. She thinks that is a damn shame but is showing up anyway.)
