Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion to achieve a connection with the universal source of energy. This term originates from the root Sanskrit word "bhaj" which translates as "devotion or worship of the Divine". Bhakti means devotion or loving relationship. Yoga means union or connection. The objective is to establish and maintain a loving and harmonious relationship with divine energy. The ripple effect of such a connection can transform our thoughts, words and behaviors. This module will discuss four (4) main practices of bhakti yoga which can be practiced independently or together:
1. Shravana - listening to lectures, presentations and stories by knowledgeable teachers.
2. Kirtana -singing of devotional songs, kirtans and bhajans using different musical instruments.
3. Smarana - remembering the Divine by chanting and meditating upon specific names and symbols.
4. Archana - ritual worship of the Divine through personal deity worship (puja) and havan (fire ceremony).
Bhakti yoga is a powerful and progressive form of practice. It starts with tangible ways of expressing gratitude for simple things like a new day, the rising sun, the shining moon, a blossoming flower and saying thanks for our food and water. Basic yoga asanas, mudras and chants are used to support the emotional intelligence that flow from bhakti devotional practices. In this module you will build a practical devotional framework and support its development with daily ayurvedic routines. This progresses into a lifestyle of gratitude and positive behaviors which opens the door to personal health, wealth and happiness.
This will consist of one online session and two in person/online sessions
