We are excited to announce the upcoming launch of the Silver Founders, a fully funded programme due to launch Friday 25th October 2024, dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs aged 50 and above. Whether you're exploring a business idea for the first time or looking to expand an established venture, the Silver Founders programme is here to help you succeed.
What is the Silver Founders Programme?
The Silver Founders programme is a fully funded initiative aimed at empowering experienced like-minded community of entrepreneurs with skills, access to finance, and networks necessary to thrive in today's business environment. We are now taking registrations for the first cohort of Silver Founders based in Birmingham, Solihull, and the Black Country region who are eager to take their ideas, business aspirations to the next level.
What Support Will Be Provided?
British Business Bank are our partners in this programme who are a government own bank supporting access to finance through selective providers from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund.
The programme will offer comprehensive support of a 5 week, 2.5 hrs per week, in person, at the prestigious X + Why location, Brindley Place. Tailored to the unique needs of entrepreneurs over 50, including:
- Business Planning: Welcoming the community, Stats & Facts of Silver Founders from a UK perspective.
- Go-To-Market Strategies: Developing effective strategies to bring your product or service to market.
- Access to Finance & Funding: Identifying financial resources for your business from the options of Debt funding, Angel investment, Equity investment & Crowdfunding models.
- Utilising AI in Business: Exploring how AI can enhance efficiency and innovation in your business to maximise business growth.
- Trademarks & Intellectual Property: Protecting your brand and innovations through IP management.
- Managing Time: Mastering time management techniques to balance business and personal life.
- Access to Resources: Connecting you with tools, information, and services to support your business journey.
- Grant Availability: Identifying grants and funding opportunities specific to your business needs.
- Network Development: Building a strong network of like-minded entrepreneurs and industry experts.
- Building Confidence: Boosting your confidence and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Health & Wellbeing: Ensuring you maintain a healthy work-life balance while growing your business.
- Eco-System Introductions: Introducing you to the local business ecosystem, including potential partners, and supporters.

Who Should Apply?
The Silver Founders programme is open to residents of Birmingham, Solihull, and the Black Country who are:
- Over the age of 50.
- Considering starting a business or have an existing business they want to grow.
- Looking for tailored support, guidance, and mentorship to navigate the business landscape.
How to Register your place:
If you are interested in participating in the Silver Founders programme, please complete this registration through Eventbrite, before the deadline date of the 20th October. You will then be forwarded a registration form to complete for this fully funded programme.
