ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Leighton-Linslade is known as a market town, but it was much more than, as this walk will show. The Grand Junction Canal linked the Town to the growing industrial centres of the Midlands, the North and London and, with sand quarrying, gave Leighton-Linslade an international market. That and the railway led to more industries: cars and aircraft, agricultural machinery, forklift trucks and lingerie. These industries were also part of Britain's war economy.
Pub stop: The Black Lion, High Street
