Walk, cycle, play or relax at this newly constructed park with a beach area.With a mission to revitalise the old docks and bring extra greenery to the local neighbourhoods, Captain Zeppos park is the first to be completed around the Houtdok, adding 3 hectares of extra green space to chill, exercise and just enjoy the outdoors.
Cycle or stroll on the promenade that runs along the restored walls of the quay. If you have any extra energy to burn, hit up the outdoor fitness station and sports area.
Check out the lower quays and beach zone if you want to chill by the water. This is a real hotspot on warm summer days but unfortunately swimming isn’t allowed.
If you’re with the kids, there’s a well-equipped playground they’re bound to enjoy.
Get the views
The old harbour crane has been on the docks since 2019. The plans are to build an observation platform so that visitors can climb a little higher for views of the Oude Dokken and, on clearer days, all the way through to the other side.
