In the final months of WWI, a group of British, American and French spies conceived a plan to overthrow Russia’s new communist government and depose its revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin. Their goal to stop the formation of the Soviet Union went unfulfilled.Initiated by Robert Bruce Lockhart – Britain’s “Agent” in Russia – and the so-called “Ace of Spies” Sidney Reilly, this plan could have altered the trajectory of the 20th century. James Crossland, historian and author of “Rogue Agent: From Secret Plots to Psychological Warfare, the Untold Story of Robert Bruce Lockhart,” will investigate the “Lockhart Plot”: the first clash between Russia and the West in a secret conflict that continues to this day.
