KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Step into the Gallery: The Multifaceted Dimensions of Perinatal Mental Health
The dial has shifted—we can no longer view perinatal mental health as an isolated diagnostic measure; it is a true litmus test for the health of the family and the community at large. To understand the full portrait, we must look beyond the surface of a checklist. Unrecognized impacts of trauma and environmental stress worsen perinatal mental health outcomes and can interfere with the quality of care provided. This keynote invites participants to step into the gallery to examine these multifaceted dimensions, challenge current frameworks, and explore ways to provide culturally humble and trauma-informed care that honors the depth of an individual’s experience. Participants will leave with a new perspective on how to bridge the gap between clinical care and community impact.
- Tolu Odebunmi, MBBS, MPH, Assistant Professor, Associate Residency Program Director
Rising to the Surge: A Collaborative Model to Support Latina Women
When crisis strikes, the most vulnerable are often the first to lose access to care. Fernanda Honebrink examines the birth and impact of Conexión para Mujeres Latinas, a network created to support home-bound pregnant and postpartum and single women. This keynote highlights the "Conexión Model"—a multidisciplinary approach that helped to link healthcare, mental health access as well as food and social services. Fernanda shares lessons learned from providing emergency mutual aid, proving that when community members and providers collaborate, they can create long-term stability for families facing significant challenges.
- Fernanda Honebrink, APRN, CNM, is a board-certified Nurse-Midwife
