Come hear a talk from Dr. Robert Thorson about the history and ecological importance of kettle lakes and ponds. If you haven't heard of a kettle pond, this is the type of ecosystem that we have at Johnson Pond, Servoss and Mather, and also in the Six Lakes properties. These are unique ecosystems and important to the town of Hamden.
Dr. Thorson is a professor at UConn and has written a seminal book, Beyond Walden Pond, on the history of America's kettle ponds. He's been featured on PBS and in the Washington Post for this work.
The presentation will be in the Senior Center at Miller Library. Entrance is in the back, not through the main library entrance.
