About this Event
Exploring the intersection of music and visual art. Each tour pairs a number of carefully selected songs with an artwork, encouraging participants to engage in slow-looking for the duration of the track. We explore how music shapes our perception and emotions, reveals the narratives that emerge when sound and image connect, and examines how sound can transform the duration and depth of our visual engagement.
Join us for a unique audio-sensory tour of Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien: Mémoires des corps, led by art historian and DJ Melissa Baksh. Through textile, drawing, sculpture, video-performance and installation, Marie-Claire’s work explores how ideas of femininity and the cosmos intersect across cultures, generations and materials. This immersive experience pairs the exhibition’s powerful works with an eclectic soundtrack designed to heighten emotion, spark reflection, and invite deeper connection.
Guided by music and conversation, audiences will be encouraged to slow down, look longer, and uncover new narratives within the artworks. Together, we’ll explore how sound and image can transform the way we encounter art, creating an experience that is personal, resonant, and unforgettable.
