How to turn local assets into impact
Creative placemaking is more than public art. This session introduces an asset-based approach to community-driven projects—grounded in local history, culture, and existing strengths. Participants will explore how to define what makes their community distinct and build momentum for projects that solve community problems.
Topics include:
• Expanding beyond beautification to community-driven projects
• Identifying local assets and linking them to action
• Quick wins, starting small
This event is part of a three-part regional series exploring how communities turn ideas into places people love.
For civic leaders, arts organizers, economic development partners, and local changemakers.
This series is presented by Columbus Area Arts Council, Indiana Arts Commission, IU Bloomington Arts & Humanities Council, and IU Center for Rural Engagement.
