"The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how." Mark 4:26-27
God’s Kingdom is surprising! So surprising that it often leaves us clueless, admitting we know not how!
As we continue to share stories with one another we have been seeing that something has been quietly unfolding across the North Shore in exactly that spirit. Not always in the places we expected, or in the forms we were trained to recognise. A conversation that leads somewhere surprising. A community forming around a table in someone's home. A voice praying in a different language that moves an entire room. Partnerships forming across lines we didn't think to cross.
The kingdom of God keeps showing up like this. Subtle, organic, and producing fruit!
The challenge for us in ministry is that we can so easily slip into church making mode, assuming that fruit will only come from what we have planned, built, and can measure. But the kingdom is always bigger than our churches, always more surprising than our strategies. We need one another to keep lifting our eyes to that!
And that’s exactly what we want to do together on June 10th! We want to create the space to encourage one another with what God is already doing across our region, to broaden our vision beyond our own congregations, and to ask together what it might look like to seek first the kingdom of God on the North Shore.
Come ready to share what surprising signs of the kingdom you've been noticing. And come ready to let those signs reorient the way we lead and collaborate together.
