The film follows Jed Fasso and a crew of filmmakers, surfers, snowboarders and friends as they push into the unknown to chase a shared dream: to discover a new wave and a hidden mountain deep in Patagonia, with no blueprint and everything at stake.
What begins as a mission of frontiers quickly becomes something far deeper. Guided by locals from northern Chile, the crew travels down the country, staying alongside an arriero in the desert whilst trying to plan their expedition. Before storms and setbacks force a major shift inland. A chance meeting surfer and snowboarder Guillermo Sat opens a new path into the Andes, where the team hunts a hidden mountain beyond the map. A turning point that reignites the journey south.
Deep in Patagonia, the expedition turns raw. Remote hikes, endless roads, and a final push into the fjords by sailboat bring the crew face-to-face with the region’s power. Forced to shelter from a violent storm, they find two Pehuenche brothers living alone off the land and sea. Sharing food, stories, and survival in complete isolation. When the mission nearly ends after nearly running aground in a river mouth, help comes from an unlikely crew: local fishermen who agree to guide them into the unknown for one last attempt at discovering a new wave. What they uncover is a wave worth the entire journey, a reward Patagonia reveals on its own terms.
Beyond Borders Patagonia is a reminder that stepping outside the known can unlock an incredible world of stories, challenges, and a deeper sense of who we are.
