* This is a very special house party that was auctioned off at a fundraiser for “Gifts of Music,” last November. The Bevan Family purchased our donation & now we are finally able to deliver an unforgettable show in their annual backyard celebration.
If you would like to attend, you will need to be as a guest of Casaundra May & James.
And the Bevan family is asking for a $20 donation at the door, along with a potluck dish.
If you are interested, please private message us & we’ll check to see if there is still room available!
Get ready for a fun evening of Delta, Memphis, Chicago, Hokum & Hill Country Roots Blues with one of the best, local Roots Blues Duo, Casaundra May & James!
Casaundra May’s vocal stylings remind us of the great singers from the golden age of the Blues - Bessie Smith, Ida Cox, and of course Etta James. But she is no impersonator. To her singing she brings the honesty and integrity of a life lived on her terms, filled with joys and sorrows, and it blossoms into beauty through her music.
James was raised in the Deep South and was schooled in the history of the blues. His National Tricone provides the perfect accompaniment to Casaundra May’s powerful voice, successfully guiding the decidedly Northern singer through the Delta and Hill Country of Mississippi.
Together, Casaundra May and James have created a unique and dynamic presentation of the Blues that would be right at home in Mississippi, right here at home in the Skagit Valley.
Here is what one of our patrons said about us:
"Casaundra May and James craft a compelling musical experience that seamlessly bridges past and present. Their sound weaves together vintage influences with contemporary flair, creating a performance that is as enlightening as it is entertaining.
Between songs, James offers thoughtful, professorial insights into his distinctive guitars and the rich history behind the music, adding depth and context without ever slowing the momentum. Meanwhile, Casaundra's expressive, blues-infused vocals bring a spirited energy—at once sultry, playful, and deeply passionate.
Together, they command the stage with natural chemistry and infectious charm. The result is a dynamic blend of vaudeville spirit, classic blues soul, and modern sensibility-an engaging performance that feels both timeless and fresh."
