The Beulah Challenge, established in 1996, is a beloved Southern Colorado tradition featuring a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon through the stunning Beulah Valley in the Wet Mountains. All races begin and finish at Beulah School, located at 8734 School House Ln, Beulah, Colorado 81023.The 5K and 10K courses guide runners along the scenic gravel and paved roads that wind through the historic mountain community of Beulah. The half-marathon offers an even greater challenge and adventure, taking participants through the breathtaking Beulah Valley and the iconic Pueblo Mountain Park on a combination of roads and hiking trails.
One of the most unique aspects of the half-marathon is the altitude. Set in the mountain terrain surrounding Beulah, Colorado, runners will experience the added challenge of elevation while enjoying crisp mountain air, towering pines, and spectacular views throughout the course. Whether you are chasing a personal record or simply looking for an unforgettable mountain race experience, the Beulah Challenge delivers both beauty and grit.
Runners 17 years old and younger may register for the 5K or 10K at the discounted rate of $15.
Half-marathon participants may also want to take part in the Over It SOCO Race Series, which includes the Beulah Challenge Half Marathon, the Rim to Rim Royal Gorge Half Marathon, and the Rock Canyon Half Marathon. Click here for additional information.
Half Marathon Time Limit: 3.5 Hours
Runners, joggers, and walkers are all welcome to participate. We celebrate everyone who takes on the half-marathon distance, regardless of pace. The course is permitted through the Town of Beulah, and race marshals along with the Beulah Fire Department help monitor traffic and ensure runner safety throughout the event.
The half-marathon time limit is based on a 16:00-minute-per-mile pace. For safety reasons, participants are strongly discouraged from entering the event if they cannot maintain this pace, as course support and aid services will conclude according to the official time limit.
Participants who choose to continue after the official cutoff may do so at their own risk. Any runners remaining on roadways after support has ended must move to the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic and obey all traffic laws.
Finisher medallions will only be awarded to participants who complete the course within the official time limit.
