between wave and water
Alethea Pace presents an exclusive glimpse into the creative process of "between wave and water," a site-specific multimedia performance walk rooted in reclaiming the history of an African Burial Ground in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx scheduled for September 2024.
Through storytelling, song and dance, a contemporary Bronx Trickster character guides us on a time-traveling journey while exposing our complex entanglement with history. Experience a captivating blend of storytelling, song, and dance performed by an extraordinary team of collaborators including S T A R R (busby), Imani Gaudin, Darvejon Jones, and Holiday.
Alethea Pace is a Bronx-based multidisciplinary artist committed to creating work in and with her community that is rooted in social justice. She is a 2023-2035 Civic Practice Partnership Artist in Residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and was a recipient of the 2021 Dance Magazine Harkness Promise Award. Her work has been presented by the BAAD!, Works and Process at the Guggenheim, the Met Museum, Pregones Theater, Dancing While Black, Danspace Project, New York Live Arts and the 92Y.
