About this Event
From the Delaware to the Schuylkill, from the Schuylkill to Cobbs Creek, Philadelphia is blessed with an extraordinaily watery location.
This year, we are joined by a wonderful group of experts who work and create with water. From regional planning and blue urbanism to habitat-generating water resources engineering, from community water resource engagement to ecological storytelling, speakers and artists will inform and inspire us toward a paradigm shift in our own relationship with water.
Speakers:
Michele Adams (Meliora Design)
Timothy Beatley (Biophilic Cities)
Stacy Levy ( Environmental Artist)
Jazmin Ricks (The Water Center at Penn)
Ariella Maron (Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission)
Water is life, representing 80-90% of plant biomass and 75% if our body. Research indicates that natural water sounds are the most effective in attracting our attention, reducing heart rate , and restoring cognition, memory recall, and creative thought.
bioPhilly 8 will explore the public health imperative of designing with water and leaning into our deep evolutionary connection to water as a precursor to stewardship of our waterways on behalf of those living alongside, within, and flying above.
We will begin the evening with a networking Happy Hour from 5-6 pm, serving drinks and delicious light fare, this year infused with Stacy Levy’s beautifully watery installations…
