Tulsa Artist Cassidy Frye’s Solo Exhibition "Between Now and Next" Opens August 2 at Positive Space"Between Now and Next," by Cassidy Frye, is a look at liminal moments represented by sculptures rooted in craft, illustrating our relationships to people and place. Much like a house we are constantly in a state of construction. A home isn’t finished when building is completed; it continues to change and settle with time. We temporarily occupy spaces where we construct our lives.
Artist Statement: “We spend our lives searching for comfort, in relationships and objects. All of these can be tied to place and structures. We build connections and memories with these places that are temporary. There is a bond with home that we create. It is altered by its occupants and surroundings. At a moment’s notice this house can be gone but the memories remain. The way a house is built can be compared to the way we build relationships bit by bit and those relationships are just as fragile. What is important are the moments between and how that time is spent.”
About the Artist: Cassidy Frye is a Tulsa based interdisciplinary artist working in sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking. She received her BFA from Herron School of Art in Indianapolis and her MFA from University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Cassidy’s practice focuses on our interactions with home, place, and community influenced by the countless moves she has made over the years.

Positive Space Tulsa is located at 1324 East 3rd Street in the Pearl District. Positive Space Tulsa was founded by local artist Nicole Finley (she/her). An art space dedicated to Womxn artists - the first and only in Oklahoma - Positive Space Tulsa believes: The letter “x” in Womxn recognizes all women, including gender expansive identities. Positive Space Tulsa is for women, nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer, and agender artists (excluding those who identify as male/men). Womxn is pronounced the same as woman or women.
