"Better Things and Taken Alive have been friends for years... Now they're throwing a spring break kickoff like never before. Joined by Shy Husky from the Upper Valley region and Fisher Wagg from right here in Burlington, VT, this will be a show you don't want to miss!"

Better Things is a Vermont alternative rock staple that has spent a decade refining the balance between grit and melody. After surfacing in 2014 and releasing the angsty, foundational 2016 album Getting Worse, the band returned from a five-year hiatus in 2023 with a sharper, more intentional energy. Their sound is defined by interwoven two-part harmonies that cut through a wall of driving guitars - a signature style bridging the raw emo-punk of their early days with brighter, poppier sensibilities. Better Things brings a high-energy update to the alt-rock they were born into: nostalgic, heavy, and melodic.

"Taken Alive makes alternative emo for people who find catharsis in a loud, melodic noise. Born from pandemic-era demos between founders Ruston and Joe, the band has evolved into a powerful four-piece, completing the lineup with Aaron on drums and James on bass. Their songs are heavy with feeling, but their live show is a high-energy release built on camaraderie and self-deprecating humor. They’re a group of sad dudes who love music, and they’re here to share the reason it keeps them going."

“A distillation of decades’ worth of rock” (Chris Farnsworth, Seven Days).
Simultaneously nostalgic and fresh, Shy Husky’s music serves as an update to the 90’s alt-rock they grew up on. Big, distorted guitars and pounding drums blend seamlessly with modern clean, pop-infused vocals to create a new style that lands at the intersection of emo, pop punk, and modern alt-rock.

Fisher is a multi-genre experimentalist with deep local roots. Having performed and toured from a young age and writing music since he was 12, he aims to capture the ironies and small thoughts we all have that build to bigger moving ideas. The kind of ideas you can sway to, maybe even jump a little. The kind that stick to your heart after the lights go out.
