DAINIUS SVERDIOLAS (vargonai / organ)LT: Kai 1935-aisiais Olivier Messiaenas sukūrė ciklą Viešpaties gimimas (La Nativité du Seigneur), jis ne tik perrašė vargonų muzikos istoriją – jis pavertė garsą malda. Devynių meditacijų cikle kompozitorius apmąsto Kalėdų paslaptį – nuo Amžinojo Žodžio gimimo iki Dievo buvimo tarp žmonių. Kiekviena dalis atspindi skirtingą įsikūnijimo dimensiją: Mergelės ir Vaikelio švelnumą, angelų šlovę, išminčių kelionę, Dievo vaikų džiaugsmą. Messiaenas šį kūrinį apibūdino kaip „emocingą ir nuoširdžią muziką, kurioje pirmiausia kalba jausmas, o tik po to mintis“.
Olivier Messiaenas (1908–1992) – vienas originaliausių ** a. kompozitorių, daugiau nei šešis dešimtmečius vargonavęs Paryžiaus Švč. Trejybės bažnyčioje. Giliai tikintis katalikas, sinestetas, ornitologas siekė garsais perteikti tai, kas anapus regimo pasaulio – dievišką šviesą, amžinybės alsavimą.

EN: When Olivier Messiaen created the cycle The Birth of the Lord (La Nativité du Seigneur) in 1935 he not only rewrote the history of organ music – he transformed a famous prayer. This masterpiece will be performed at St Casimir’s Church by organist Dainius Sverdiolas, a musician who has spent his whole life deepening his understanding of Messiaen’s work.
In the cycle of nine meditations, the composer foreshadows the mystery of Christmas – from the emergence of the Eternal Word to the presence of God among people. Each part reflects a different dimension of embodiment: the gentleness of the Virgin and Infant, the worhip of the angels, the journey taken by the Wise Men, the joy of God’s children.
Messiaen described this work as “emotional and sincere music where feelings speak forth first of all, and only then are they followed by thought”.
Olivier Messiaen (1908–1992) is one of the most original 20th-century composers who spent more than six decades playing the organ at the La Trinité Church in Paris. A deeply devout Catholic, a synesthete and ornithologist, he sought to convey through sound that which was beyond the visible world – divine light and the pulsation of eternity.
