Wondering what Somatic means?
Somatic therapy helps artists
unlock creativity and overcome blocks by connecting with their bodies to regulate the nervous system, reducing anxiety, and bypassing self-criticism . It fosters "interoceptive awareness," enabling creators to turn internal physical sensations into authentic artistic expression, thereby overcoming burnout, perfectionism, and creative blocks. (I don't know about you, but I could sure use this...I'm excited to attend)
We will conclude around 3:00 in the afternoon, then we have been invited to visit Bluestem Missouri Fine Crafts. Bluestem has recently undergone new ownership and will be hosting an OPEN HOUSE on Saturday April 18, 2026 from 3:00-6:00 PM to introduce the new owners, get a look at the updates, and take in the beautiful space which includes the work of MANY BOMH artists!! This will be an optional self guided visit, but we will be offering and encouraging car pooling to the gallery and back to the Electric Coop Building. Note: Parking can be challenging downtown Columbia, HOWEVER...Parking Garages are FREE on the weekends. So if you wish to self drive, or car pool....you may wish to utilize a parking garage. Bluestem is located at 13 South 9th Street, Columbia, MO 65201.
Again, we hope that you will attend this informative, fun, networking, connecting, 1 day event in which we strive to build our community and friendships. Building on our theme for ArtSmart 2027, we look to Inspire, Engage, and Connect.
