The LONGEST RUNNING POETRY SLAM ON THE WEST COAST!

Bringing you some of the best poetry from across the world every week since 1999, and third in the nation at the 2015 National Poetry Slam!

It's time folks! All season long, these poets have duked it out and stand as the top 8 poets of our show, but only 5 can make THE TEAM and only one will be crowned Berkeley's GRAND SLAM Champion!

And with Berkeley Slam ranking 3rd place at the Bigfoot Regional Slam in Portland, OR, Berkeley has a placement to maintain.

About our host:

Shawn William is a Grammy Nominated,Spoken Word Artist & published author hailing from Oakland, Ca. His messages speak on an array of topics such mental health, financial wellness, fatherhood, autism, and finding love after healing from a divorce.


Shawn has the amazing talent of taking his audience on an emotional rollercoaster with his well-crafted wordplay and vivid storytelling all from an honest and vulnerable place.

As a spoken word artist; Shawn has been blessed to tour & open for Grammy Award winner Jill Scott, featured on Verses and Flow, The Essence Festival, The Arsenio Show, The ESPY’s, Radio City Music Hall & The Apollo.

​Working with multiple chapters of the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative & Patelco Credit Union; Shawn has facilitated creative workshops, featured on panels, and volunteered in neighborhood outreach programs at prestigious Universities and Colleges such as Howard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, NYU & Morehouse.

In 2021 Shawn was one of five spoken word artist selected to a residency at the legendary Kennedy Center in Washington, DC & in 2023 Nominated for “Best Spoken Word & Poetry Album” at the 2024 Grammys.


With two published book, two tours, Grammy Nomination, a lifetime worth of stories in his head and fire in his belly, Shawn William will continue to push the culture in the right direction.
