About this Event
As eloquent as HAMLET and unwieldy as HENRY VI part III, CYMBELINE is at once a small, intimate story about a family in crisis, and an epic tale of generational shift and cultural shift. Set against the transition of Britain from Roman Power to sovereign state, CYMBELINE follows the title character as he navigates the harsh political waters of his unstable era, and seeks to reconcile with his three daughters, the elder of whom have been missing since infancy, and the last of which has secretly married against his will. A historical fairy tale, the action plays out from Italy to Wales and contains some of Shakespeare's most compelling explorations of the passion of young love, the intervention of grace, and the foolishness of kings.
