Our family at New York African Film Festival is back with their 31st installment of a wide range of films representing the African continent and its tentacles around the world! Going from Harlem to the Upper West Side to Harlem, NYAFF 2024 theme, “Convergence of Time,” explores the intersection of historical and contemporary roles played by individuals representing Africa and its diaspora in art.
BRBCC is happy to be co-presenting Ramata Toulaye-Sy’s critically acclaimed “Banel & Adama” on May 25th at BAM. Join us as we follow the passionate journey of Banel and Adama, who defy tradition and family expectations to pursue their love.
Banel and Adama, fiercely in love, long for a home of their own. The couple decide that they will live away from their families, and that Adama will reject his blood-duty to become chief of his village. But when Adama informs the village council of his intention, the whole community is disrupted—and the rain that is supposed to come doesn’t.
